Ahoy!
I almost didn't get dressed today. Almost. But I did (see photos).
It's been a busy time. I've been working on research all day since I'm behind in hours. Focusing is hard when there's nothing to do. You know when you have so much to do that you want to get something done? Well, I don't really have anything to do. The research is all I have, and if the research is done... then what? I'm procrastinating for the purpose of sanity.

Onto clothing. You'll notice I like jeans and looking non-fussy. This proves to be difficult come the adult world. Actually, that's perhaps the reason why I've postponed adulthood and decided to do more school. Sadly, my masters will be done this time next year, which means I need to start integrating more work-friendly clothes into my wardrobe. On American Apparel they have this nice blue oxford button down I'm ogling. I figure I could dress it up for work and dress it down with black skinnies for a night out. Ive also got my eyes on this Steven Alan reverse seam shirt. Tres cute. However, shirts are easy for me. It's the damn pants. I have yet to find a pair of decent fitting, plain pants (will take suggestions). My internships are carried out in a hospital setting, meaning no jeans and I have to look semi-professional/like I know what I'm doing. People trust their children's minds with me. Keep in mind, therapists aren't exactly the most fashion-forward group of professionals. I once wore a pair of black skinny jeans, a steve alan grey shirt and a pair of black pumps to work. When I got to the work, I felt very overdressed and very--- fashiony. Fashion as a deficit.

Oh, how I wish I could wear you to work without looking like a total douche.

I must confess something. I hate summer and I hate summer clothes. I miss winter and fall. I love long sleeves, pants and cable tights. All that aside, here's what I wore out today. Although it was a hot day, I live by the lake so it can be cool, thus the cardigan. Which happens to be one of my favourite cardigans that I found on e-bay for $10 (Pringle of Scotland for $10!).

Last note, and completely random one, this is how I organize my thoughts and wants. I rip out things from magazines for ideas or for future reference (the boyfriend likes to consult these papers when important dates are creeping up on him) and I shove them into this little notebook. Somewhere down the line these ripped papers are cut neatly and pasted into the book with little notes beside them.

A much need break from my familiar surroundings. I went up to my cottage to relax and catch up on some reading, as it rained pretty much the whole time. I must say, the book "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs is brilliant, as expected. So brilliant that I went out and purchased his new novel: A Wolf at the Table.
Now, at home with decent non-dial-up internet, I am catching up on internet-things which I have missed. Of note is the fabulous fall collection from A.P.C. I'm crushing on the striped pullover and the Pea Coat in Lambswool.

On another note, I am compiling a list of my "staples for my wardrobe". Thus far they are black and grey tights (Hue makes nice basic ones) a pair of skinny black pants and grey pants, a pair of cute booties, and a good-fitting white button down. I'm trying to make my wardrobe a little more work-friendly (I'm doing my internship at a hospital. No jeans. Cry.)

This is Coco. I bought her at the thrift store yesterday. J laughed at me, but I like it. Coco was only $1 and she now sits in on the window ledge.

Here is/was today's outfit-- bad face/hair day.

Dress is from H&M, footless tights from le chateau, gladiator sandals by Jeffery Campbell, bag from the gap, and bracelet is a vintage necklace! I really felt comfortable in this outfit.

It's funny, as I get older I'm finding out what clothes I really like. I was looking through my closet and saw some tops that look great, but aren't me. I wondered "why did I buy this-- it's beautiful, but it's not me." Such is this beautiful FCUK top, in yellow, it looked so cool on the aritzia mannequin, and I thought I could rock it with skinny black jeans-- but you know what? I don't like to "rock" things.

I vow to be more mindful with my purchases and buy what I suits me, not what suits the hanger.

She looks so awkward pulling aside the curtain, not sure what will be there or what the outcome will be. Apprehensive, but curious.

Beginnings are always awkward. How do I start this off? Should I be groundbreaking?
I'm going to be honest, the probability of me being groundbreaking is not likely. However, what I can offer you is some entertainment and hopefully conversation.

I'd like to start off with some current events in my life.
1. I am reading a book called Dry by Augusten Burroughs.
2. I am on the look out for new music. I recently purchased Slow Club from iTunes; is liking.
3. I watched 2 movies: a) Death at a Funeral (brilliant), b) Charlie Bartlett (the Ferris Bueller for this generation)
4. I have been purchasing many things, particularly of the clothing sort. I hope to post images of what I have bought.
5. I have also purchased a new camera as mine broke last year in Copenhagen. I hope to start taking more photos and post them here.

This is all I have to say at this current moment.
